Icon

I've been mulling over what to use for my profile icon. I would like to have one but I'm not sure what the rules are, or if there are indeed rules covering what can and cannot be used. For example, can I use a book cover, or a photo? And if so do I need to seek permission from someone? Or do I have to draw something...anything? (YIKES!) Perhaps there is there a particular website that I can visit to source a suitable icon? (I'm so showing my newbie stripes, aren't I :) Any advice gratefully received!

  1. Yay! Can comment again!

I wouldn't use covers unless you are the author, but other than that I think you can use just about anything.

Thank you Aymless! So, apart from covers, any picture is fair game so to speak? Hmmmm....I know what I'll be doing this weekend :)

  3. See, this is the thing... I've been trying to get an icon working for myself--and have no clue, despite the kind attempts of a couple of internet savvy peeps, how to manage it.

    So... yeah, I got nothing.

  5. Just remember... you're brazen!

Go with what you like. Pictures with too much going one gets lost because they shrink it but a simple one works well.

  6. I forgot to add:

Icons aren't permanent. You can change them at will. So if it doesn't feel right, get another or remove the picture all together.
