Books 2009: July Update

Total to date: 46 books (8 books this month)

The 2009 Support Your Local Library Challenge total to date: 34 books (2 books this month) [which is rather unusual for me because I'm a complete library junkie]

A list of all the books I've read to date (from 01 January 2008) can be found at Library Thing.

Favourite books of the month?

* Branded By Fire (Nalini Singh)

* Why Mermaids Sing (CS Harris)

Currently reading: The Mirador (Sarah Monette)

And the book I'm most looking forward to next month is...to be decided *grin*

What did you read last month?

  1. Err... Broken Wing? LOL

Hmm... maybe I should keep track of when I read something. I think I finished:
    * Eve of Chaos by SJ Day
    * Darkness Calls by Marjorie M Liu
    * Hidden Currents by Christine Feehan

Bringing my grand total of new reads to 44 for the year.

  2. Oh wait! I suppose I should add the ones I finished this week on the plane:

    * Just the Sexiest Man Alive by Julie James
    * Practice Makes Perfect by Julie James
    * Nightkeepers by Jessica Andersen
    * Dawnkeepers by Jessica Andersen

So that puts my total at 48! *g*

  3. I don't keep track the way you guys do... let me see what I remember. I finished Broken Wing, of course.

And I know that I read Branded by Fire, Kimber Chin's Invisible, a couple of short ebooks, and a couple of Lord Peter Wimsey books.

I also re-read Morning Glory  You know, to help my brain recover from RWA.

  4. Err... Broken Wing? LOL

LOL! Actually, I only started keeping track of what I was reading at the beginning of last year...and that was just because I was curious as to exactly how many books I was reading :) It's interesting to see how many books I read in a month and then look back and see if I can figure out what influenced the total..whether it was external (family) stressors or the books themselves :)

Out of interest, what did you think of Branded by Fire azteclady?

I also re-read Morning Glory  You know, to help my brain recover from RWA.

I love books like that :) I'll have to check out your review tonight. Kimber Chin and Lord Peter Wimsey I don't know.. *wembles off to do a Google search*

  6. Thank you azteclady! Will definitely check it out tonight! I'm also going to try and visit far more often than I do!

HI Mariana *waves* I haven't read any of Sean Kennedy's books (still delving into teh m/m romance genre). Do you enjoy it?

  7. Hey! I really loved Tigers and Devils; very lovely romance. Characters were a hoot and the type that I still wonder about.

That's the only one of his that I've read so far, but I'm definitely getting his backlist.

Ethan Day's was also an MM and very good; great characters and lovely romance.

  12. I read nine books in July! My most productive month of reading in a long time. I read some really great stuff... but I would probably say Anne Bishop's Black Jewels Trilogy tops my list. Then Broken Wing. I also really enjoyed Elisabeth Naughton's Stolen Fury .. it was fun and fast paced.. great blend of action and romance.

My most desired read of August is definitely Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs!

Well, I'm counting (yaoi) manga as I read two last month, so I think it should count :)

    LOL Aymless!

Lisa Marie - I am so looking forward to reading The Madness of Lord Ian MacKenzie!

Christine - I just adored The Black Jewel Trilogy! Daemon is...well....Daemon *grin*

My most desired read of August is definitely Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs!

How could I have forgotten! *orannia sends herself to the naughty corner* Oh, and Michelle Sagara's Cast in Silence (thank you Kris for reminding me last night!)

  14. July was definitely my quietest month this year for reading - I read 14 books. Down significantly from my best month which was 39 books in May. I've read 195 books so far this year, but this figure does include short stories and novellas!

Favourite reads in July were Branded by Fire by Nalini Singh and Prey by Rachel Vincent.

Bridging The Gap by Annmarie McKenna and Hunting Ground by Patricia Briggs are two books that I am eagerly awaiting for in August. I was going to add Bengal's Heart by Lora Leigh but I have just downloaded the eBook and am going to start reading it tonight.

  15. Hey ShellBell *waves*

You've read 195 books already this year? You're amazing! WOW! Am very impressed :)

I was going to add Bengal's Heart by Lora Leigh but I have just downloaded the eBook and am going to start reading it tonight.

I'm ashamed to admit I still haven't read the book before it :(

  16. Hiya orannia *waves back*

Coyote's Mate and Bengal's Heart are well worth reading, and the next Breed book is one that I feel as if I have been waiting forever for - Jonas's book (I think it's called Lion's Heat) which is due out next year!

  17. Ohhhhh, Jonas' book! Exciting!
